It’s an outdoor hiking tour through the rain forest with the help of a naturalistic guide to look for the sloths in the wild. We’ll be finding an average of four to six sloths in the area.
We have about 2 miles trails with a rich biodiversity so we also be able to appreciate some birds, frogs, insects and other wildlife around.
This adventure takes almost two hours to be done but it’s a gentile hike in a flat land 30 acres property.
The trails are mostly under shade with some open areas so you only we’ll need some bug spray.

Near to the Nicaragua border in the little town of Los Chiles you will embark in a safari boat ride on Río Frío , this river is part of the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge one of the most important wetlands in the world.
Admire the richness of flora and fauna characterized by a variety of residents and migratory birds, three different species of monkeys, iguanas, sloth, turtles and caimans. Delight a delicious typical lunch on the way back to the hotel.
At a two hour drive from La Fortuna we visit the Tenorio volcano national park. After some hiking we will get to the Rio Celeste (blue river).
The blue color you can see is the result of a chemical reaction between two merging rivers containing different volcanic minerals. (Foto tenideros) It’s a very rare phenomenon which creates a fairytale- like beauty.
The hike itself is medium tough and takes about 4 hours. It will take you to a waterfall, a lookout point and the place where the river changes colors. (Foto waterfall)With the help of the guide there is a good possibility of seeing wildlife.
After the hike we’ll have lunch and start our drive back to la Fortuna.
